An Easy, Clean Art Studio
PixOs are tiny, colored beads that adhere together when lightly sprayed by water and allowed to dry. The premise is simple, but it allows kids to create fairly complex sculptures in a non-toxic and mess-free way. Using PixOs, children create designs by placing the beads on a grid-like tray. To place PixOs, kids can use either the provided "pen," or use their fingers. Once the PixOs have been placed, the child sprays them with water using the included spray bottle and allows them to dry. Once dry, the PixOs sculptures can be removed from the tray and placed anywhere.

The Ultimate Design Station requires some assembly, which a parent should be able to quickly do. Once assembled, the station provides many tools that make playing with PixOs even easier. It includes a PixOs sorter and dispenser, which is helpful since the tiny beads are often easy to lose track of. It also features a bendable hose fan, which can help speed up the drying process. This hose fan can also function as a clamp, allowing kids to hold their creations in place and work on them piece-by-piece.

Please note that the PixOs are tiny. Although the recommended age on the box says four and up, younger children may require close supervision.

Templates and Accessories Expand Creative Options
Included with the Ultimate Design Station are four template designs of varying difficulty that will help children get accustomed to using PixOs. With these templates, kids can make dinosaurs, cars, fish and more. Once these templates have been mastered, kids can create whatever they want and will only be limited by their imaginations. Also included are two wheels and two hinges, which are designed to clasp onto PixOs beads. With these accessories, you can make cars, crocodile jaws, or anything else one can think of.

My daughter got this for her birthday! First of all, it barely comes with enough beads to make anything. Secondly, it is horribly messy. I am still cleaning up beads stuck to the floor days later. They don't really ever truly dry. The toy itself is easy enough to use and clean.Not really something I would recommend. I prefer the beads you place in teh shapes and iron. You buy them at the craft stores. Much less messy, and much more creative. Requires the kids to stay more focused, too!

Before I own this, I created many works using this kind of beads (another brand), even many 3-D design without 3-D templates (overlap beads layer by layer). So I treat myself as an expert user.

My kids love to make stuff from pixos beads, but the big machine in this box is no doubt a junk. The big ball distribute beads to the bottom of the tray. It is so easy to off the place. It can not be even used as a storage unit. The pink and red hand on the picture is a clip. It is also useless. I certainly agree that the fan is a joke, as many reviews already said.

The template trays are good, but the 3-D tray are made with thin plastic. Looks very easy to break. You will run out your beads like crazy with 3-D design. The 2-D tray are useful and fun. But this one give you only one 2-D tray (X template), but not the other one (+ template).

I recommend the boxes gives you 2-D template/3-D trays, but not the big useless machine. But be prepare to see the beads run out very quick, then you need refill.

Awful Christmas gift for the kids.

First of all, the contraption didn't work. The tiny balls are supposed to come down the chute but each ball just got stuck. So we thought, the hell with it, we won't use the contraption, but those tiny balls went everywhere.

About 10-minutes of trying to make the darn thing work, and 2-minutes of play, then back in the box and it's never been touched since.

We had actually purchased TWO of these. One for my kids, and one for my niece. I had to go out shopping again because after the fiasco with this piece of crap, my husband wouldn't let me give the second one to my niece.

Don't waste your money like we did!

My kids had the original version of this Pixos unit (previously called "Aquadots") and in comparing the two, the engineers made some nice improvements. The fan is now out of reach (no finger pinch worry) and the dispensing tube is less clog-prone. It is more simple and sturdy (no worry about this thing tipping over and having hundreds of little color balls everywhere). Kids got some fun out of this before it ended up on the shelf in a few weeks.
